Listening is not Hearing

Listening is not Hearing

Listening is the ability to receive information and accurately interpret to mean what the communicator intends to say. Unfortunately so many people are deficient in this essential life skill.

It is so easy to misunderstand people when you do NOT listen to them ro understand what message they are passing across to you.

Now, there IS definitely a big difference between listening and hearing. Everyone who has ears without defects can hear however only a select few listen.

Listening requires that you pay attention not only to what is being said but to the tone, body language and other non-verbal messages communicated during the interaction.

Imagine the effects of a lack of listening on a community?!

There are so many people with lots of things to say yet they shy away from talking and thus bottle up their pain because there’s really no one to talk to who would lend them a listening ear.

We all can be the shoulder for someone suffering around us. We can lend a listening ear to our loved ones and other people we are fortunate to interact with from time to time.

All you need to do is, spare the time to listen and we would be on our way to healing ourselves and the world around us.
